What
Before, the prompt only accepted a keystroke that produced exactly one character. Input made of several pieces, such as accented letters built from combining marks or text from an IME (a tool for typing languages like Japanese or Chinese), could be ignored. Claude Code now accepts such input, tidies it with a standard Unicode step that merges combining marks into single characters, and inserts the result.
Why
Characters that use combining marks, and text typed through an input method, should no longer disappear when you type them.
