What probably matters to youSection of the release
What
A new accessFallbackModels setting holds a list of models. Claude Code can pick one of them when your main model is unavailable. It picks from the list only when:
the setting is set
you are using Anthropic's own API directly
a remotely controlled switch allows it
A model is only picked if it passes Claude Code's model checks and is not already among the backup choices.
Why
The setting changes which model answers you when the main one cannot be used.
Nothing here resolved what this flag was doing on this version, so nothing here should be read as on or off.
