What

A partial clone is a copy of a Git repository that does not hold every file locally, for example a sparse checkout or a clone made with --filter. The error Claude Code gives when you try to upload one has changed. It says a partial clone with missing files cannot be uploaded, and that the upload will not download the missing files from the remote.

The message suggests two things:

  • making a full clone without --filter
  • running git fsck --name-objects to look for a lost object
Why

If you work from a sparse or partial clone, the error now tells you what is wrong and how to fix it.
