A partial clone is a copy of a git repository made with --filter, which leaves some of its data out. Claude Code already showed an error when such a clone could not be uploaded. That error now adds two pieces of advice:
A full clone, made without --filter, would upload.
A lost index object can be restored by running git rm --cached <path> and then git add <path>. The index is git's list of what is staged for the next commit.
A pattern now also recognises the related git error messages, so they get this advice too.
Why
If you hit this error, it now tells you how to get past it instead of only reporting the failure.
