What
In an agent team, Claude can start teammates, extra agents that work alongside it inside the same Claude Code process. Each teammate appears as a task.
The task label now uses the description given when the teammate was started. Before, it was always the first 50 characters of the prompt. An empty description now also falls back to the prompt.
The description is passed along when the teammate is started.
The task's stored prompt now comes from the prompt that was shown (shownPrompt) instead of the description.
Starting a teammate records spawnedAgentType and shownPrompt in its details, and spawnedWith.agentType keeps the value as given instead of a normalised one.
When a teammate compacts its history, meaning it shortens earlier conversation to save room, it now marks that its full transcript is not available (compactTranscriptUnavailable).
Why
Teammate tasks get readable labels instead of a sentence chopped off mid-word, and the prompt you see for a task matches what was shown when it started. Compaction for teammates now behaves differently because the transcript is marked as unavailable.
