What
This is about remote sessions, where Claude Code runs somewhere else and its output is streamed to you as it is produced. The streaming connection uses SSE, a way for a server to keep sending updates over one open web connection. The changes:
- Viewer away and back signals: the SSE transport now handles
viewer_awayandviewer_backevents throughonViewerSign. The remote-session client uses them to slow how often it sends partial output while nobody is watching. - Flush timing tracks the viewer: the part that uploads stream events gained
viewerAwayAtMs,readableContentBegunThisTurnandstreamEventTimerWaitsForViewer. These fields suggest that when output is sent can now wait on whether a viewer is present. - Connection renewal: the SSE transport gains
renewConnection, setStatementRenewalGateanddeliverHeldForRenewal. When a renewal check approves a message, the transport holds that message and reconnects. - Oversize retries: an oversize
message_startstream event is now retried withoutinput_transformations.
Why
If you watch a remote session, how quickly partial output reaches you can now depend on whether the session thinks you are looking. Output may arrive in larger, slower batches while you are away and speed up when you come back.
