What

A permission prompt tool is a tool that answers Claude Code's permission requests on your behalf, instead of you clicking through a prompt. For decisions made this way, Claude Code records who approved the action. That label has changed from "person" to "user".

Why

The label may show up in usage data or in output from the SDK (the kit for driving Claude Code from your own programs). If you have scripts that look for the value "person", they may need to look for "user" instead.
