What

MCP servers are outside programs that give Claude Code extra tools. When a connection to one closes while you are signing in again, Claude Code used to try to rejoin it. It now skips the rejoin when the reason given for the close matches a certain check. A new kind of error is also treated as one that should not be retried.

Why

In practice, Claude Code makes fewer automatic reconnection attempts to MCP servers in some cases.
