What
In a headless run, where Claude Code works without its interactive screen (for example when started from a script or through the SDK), each turn now waits for model configuration to be fetched before it builds the instructions sent to Claude. Before, it only prepared local storage and went straight on.
The wait is skipped when the turn will not send a request to the model. Claude Code also now works out whether this is the first turn of the conversation by looking at the messages already there.
Why
The extra wait can add a little delay to the start of headless and SDK turns.
Something disagreesSomething we can check disagrees with this entry, or the writer said they could not settle it.
The writer flagged doubt
It is not clear what configuration is fetched or how long Claude Code will wait for it.
