What
The notice Claude Code shows when it has updated itself in the background can now carry a line offering a restart. The wording comes from a configuration Claude Code fetches from Anthropic's servers. When that configuration gives no text, the notice falls back to "/restart to apply". When a further condition is not met, it reads "Restart to update" instead. The notice can also now tell whether it is being shown at the prompt, the spot where you type your next message.
Why
This may be the first part of a way to apply an update by restarting in place, instead of quitting and starting Claude Code again yourself.
