What

When Claude Code shows an announcement at startup, it now sends a usage report with the announcement's ID and how many times it has been shown. Before, it only counted the views without reporting them.

One other announcement, named defaultToNewerModel inside Claude Code, is no longer marked as a promotion and no longer has a limit on how many times it can be shown.

Why

The usage reporting is mostly behind the scenes. The visible part is that the defaultToNewerModel announcement is no longer limited to a set number of showings.
