Some tools run on a remote host, meaning another machine that Claude Code is connected to. Before this change, a tool call failed if that host was lost partway through. Claude Code can now hold the call open and wait for the host to come back before it treats the call as failed.
While it waits, Claude Code shows a status line. The line says it is waiting, that the wait has ended, or that it gave up.
This behaviour only runs when a server-side switch is turned on. In readings taken before this release, that switch came back on both for this site's account and for an anonymous account.
A short network drop no longer has to throw away a tool call that was nearly done. The call can carry on once the host is back.
tengu_violin_waist Off by default, switched on for this accountThe shipped code defaults this off, and the flag server returned on for the one account this site reads on this version. That is the reading that makes the entry above worth a second look, and it still says nothing about your account.
This account: on · anonymous baseline: on · compiled default in v2.1.287: off
These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.
Read once, for one account on one subscription tier, against v2.1.287. It isn't a statement about your account. What a flag value here can and cannot tell you
It is not clear which kinds of remote connection support this wait, or whether the switch is on in this release.
