What

When Claude Code cannot find a plugin (an add-on that extends Claude Code) while loading it, the error now carries more detail. Before, that detail was empty. It can now report:

  • that the plugin was removed from its directory
  • the new name, if its directory was renamed
  • the reason its directory cannot be installed

Separately, plugins from some marketplace sources (catalogues that plugins are installed from) are now marked to be read in place where they already sit.

Why

This changes how plugins from built-in directories load. A clearer error should make it easier to tell what happened to a plugin that has stopped loading.

The writer flagged doubtIt is not clear what reading a plugin in place means in practice, or which marketplace sources it applies to.
