What
Claude Code can show a preview of something it built (an artifact) in a Chrome browser. The code that opens that browser has been reworked:
- Pages already open in the preview browser are closed before the preview starts.
- Closing the preview tab is now treated as an error rather than ignored.
- If the preview is cancelled before the browser has started, it stops with the message "the preview gave up before its browser started".
- When the preview ends, it removes the listener that watched for cancellation.
Before, the opener started the browser directly and only watched for the browser process to exit.
Why
The preview's start and shutdown should be more predictable, with clearer errors when the tab or browser goes away.

The writer flagged doubt
It is not clear where this preview is used or whether it is switched on for everyone.
