What

Managed settings are settings an administrator sets for everyone on a machine or in an organisation, stored in files such as managed-settings.json and the managed-settings.d/ folder. Claude Code now has a list of protected paths that includes the managed settings folder, managed-settings.d/ and the policy settings paths.

The check that decides whether Claude may write to a file also has a new early step that can give an answer before the rest of the check runs.

Why

This could stop Claude from editing managed settings files.

The entry above is what we published on the day. These lines were added later, as Anthropic's own pages caught up, and they sit beside the original rather than replacing it.

Confirmed since Anthropic's documentation has since written up managed-settings.json, on All settings. ```json managed-settings.json theme={null} settings-reference see the edit
