What
Artifacts are pages Claude creates and publishes for you. The artifact tool has a new share action that changes who can see one.
- It takes
url, mode, peopleandaccess.modeisorgfor the whole organisation orpeoplefor named members of it.accessis view only or can comment. - It reads the artifact's current permissions, plans the change, and applies it only if the artifact has not changed in the meantime.
- You confirm every share on a card. The action is refused in plan mode and in sessions with no way to show that card. It never shares publicly.
- In cloud sessions the request goes through a relay that carries your approval.
- A new Sharing section in Claude's instructions says when to offer a share. It appears only when
shareOnis set. - The tool's display shows a line such as
share "title" with the organization (view only), or names the people. - The action is available only when
CLAUDE_CODE_ARTIFACT_SHAREis true and the session runs in the cloud or the desktop app. - Separately, keeping track of comments you did not ask about now stops an unprompted redeploy.
Why
Claude can help you share an artifact without leaving the conversation, but nothing is shared until you approve it on the card. Where CLAUDE_CODE_ARTIFACT_SHARE is not true, the action does not appear.
