What
An agent view shows the work of a subagent or teammate, a helper Claude that the main conversation started. Some slash commands typed there act on the main conversation rather than the agent you are looking at, and Claude Code now handles them in two ways:
/model and /fast are still blocked, with a message saying they change the main conversation and not this agent.
/compact, /clear and /rewind now show a confirmation with a "Run /... on ..." button. If you confirm, the command is sent again and runs on the main conversation.
Before, only /model and /fast got a message, and other commands got no special handling.
Why
You can now run these commands from inside an agent view without switching back, and the confirmation makes clear that they will affect the main conversation.
The entry above is what we published on the day. These lines were added later, as Anthropic's own pages caught up, and they sit beside the original rather than replacing it.
Confirmed sinceAnthropic's documentation has since written up /compact, on Orchestrate teams of Claude Code sessions.* `/compact`, `/clear`, and `/rewind` act on the lead's conversation, so Claude Code asks you to confirm before running one of them from this view.agent-teamssee the edit
Confirmed sinceAnthropic's documentation has since written up /clear, on Troubleshooting. If the error comes back after a `/clear`, run [`/context`](/docs/en/debug-your-config) and compare the `Messages` row with the rows above it:troubleshootingsee the edit
Added sinceA small documentation edit on Extend agents with skills touched a line naming /compact after this was published.A `compact_boundary` message only arrives when compaction ran. When a continued session has messages but nothing `/compact` can summarize, the run still ends with a `success` result rather than an error, and no `compact_boundary` message a…agent-sdk/skillssee the edit
Confirmed sinceAnthropic's documentation has since written up /rewind, on Claude Code changelog.* Fixed screen reader mode refusing Enter with nothing typed on /rewind's summarize options, whose added context is optionalchangelogsee the edit
