What
A session is one conversation with Claude Code. If you resume a session that another Claude Code process is still running, Claude Code shows a screen saying the session is in use. That screen used to receive only the session, the process holding it, and whether you could fork it (start a copy). It now also receives a handoff that includes the prompt you gave, so the prompt is not lost.
In interactive use, --resume can now also be given a title.
