What

When Claude Code uses git to download (clone) a plugin or a marketplace over SSH, it now looks at more of your SSH setup:

Git config: it reads core.sshCommand and ssh.variant from your git configuration. Before, it inspected only the GIT_SSH_COMMAND, GIT_SSH and GIT_SSH_VARIANT environment variables.
GIT_SSH_COMMAND is now built for the clone from these settings.
GIT_SSH_VARIANT is set from your environment or, if that is not set, from ssh.variant in git config.
OpenSSH check: it tests whether the configured SSH command is OpenSSH. The lookup runs inside a private temporary folder.

If no temporary folder can be created, the clone stops with an error that says: "Set CLAUDE_CODE_TMPDIR to a usable directory to fix this." CLAUDE_CODE_TMPDIR is a setting that tells Claude Code where to put its temporary files.

Why

If you connect to git servers through a custom SSH command set in git config, such as core.sshCommand, plugin and marketplace clones should now use it too. If a clone fails with the temporary folder message, point CLAUDE_CODE_TMPDIR at a folder Claude Code can write to.
