Claude Code now reads a new environment variable, CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_WEB_FETCH. An environment variable is a named value you set in your shell or system before starting Claude Code. When this one is set, the WebFetch tool is turned off. WebFetch is the tool Claude uses to download a web page and read it.

It gives you, or an administrator, a simple way to stop Claude Code from fetching web pages.
