Claude Code now says why the 'highlights' feature is unavailable

'Highlights' is a beta (pre-release) feature. When it cannot be used, Claude Code now looks up the reason in a fixed list and names it. The reasons are:

  • the provider, the service that runs the model, does not support it
  • experimental betas are off, through CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_EXPERIMENTAL_BETAS or organization policy
  • the model does not support it
  • the API rejected the request
Why

If highlights does not work for you, the reason now points at what to check, such as whether CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_EXPERIMENTAL_BETAS is set.
