Hooks are commands you set up in your settings to run automatically at certain moments, such as before or after Claude uses a tool. Each hook is filed under an event name. When a settings file lists an event name Claude Code does not recognize, the error it reports can include a tip. Claude Code now detects that mistake in a different way, so the tip appears again for this case.
Why
A change in how settings are checked had stopped the tip from appearing. With it back, a mistyped or unsupported hook event name comes with a pointer to what went wrong, rather than a bare validation error.
