Claude Code runs a check to decide whether plan mode or auto mode applies. That check now also looks at the mode that was active before a rewrite. Separately, a helper that used to read text line by line, skipping blank lines and comment lines starting with #, has been reworked. It now sits behind a server-side switch, and the code treats that switch as off when the server sends nothing. The message timestamps option in settings is also still controlled by a server-side switch.
This could change how auto mode behaves in some cases.
