In auto mode, Claude Code runs some tools without stopping to ask you first, based on an allowlist (a list of tools it treats as safe to run automatically). The check against that list used to look a tool up by its name alone. It now looks at the tool itself, and a tool can declare that it is excluded from the list. A tool that does this is never allowed automatically, even in auto mode.
Why
A tool can now ask to always go through the normal permission prompt, whatever auto mode would otherwise allow.
