What

Skills are reusable instructions Claude can load. Some are fetched from the server rather than written locally. After Claude Code fetches these skills, it now also records which of them it owns. Before, it passed the fetched skills along without keeping that record.

If saving the record fails, Claude Code logs a warning and carries on. The failure does not stop the skills from being used.

Why

Keeping track of which skills came from the server looks like groundwork for updating or cleaning up those skills later, without touching skills you added yourself.
