What
Before running shell commands, Claude Code loads a shell snapshot, which is a saved copy of your shell's setup. When it adds extra folders to the PATH in that snapshot, it now skips any folder already listed. Before, it appended them every time, even if they were already present. PATH is the list of folders your shell searches for programs.
Why
This stops PATH from growing with repeated entries during sessions that use the Bash tool.
