Some views in Claude Code take over the whole terminal using a separate screen, called the alternate screen, and hand the normal screen back when they close. When that happens, Claude Code now throws away its saved copy of the normal screen and starts again from a blank frame the size of the window. Showing a text selection on top of the screen now also makes Claude Code repaint everything rather than only the parts it thinks have changed.
