What
A cloud session runs on Anthropic's servers and can sync files from a computer that is tied to it, called the bound device. Claude Code now shows a specific reason when file sync is off for such a session on this computer:
The session was created without tying this computer to it, so it starts with none of this folder's files, working from GitHub's copy or a one-time upload instead
This computer's device key, the secret that identifies it, could not be read
This computer could not be confirmed as the bound device
Why
If you use a computer that is not tied to the session, you now learn why your files are not syncing instead of getting no reason or a vague one.
