What probably matters to youSection of the release
Unclear Whether the old behaviour showed an error or silently did nothing is not stated.
What
MCP servers are outside tools and services Claude Code connects to. /mcp reconnect all used to be treated as a request to reconnect a single server named "all" in the terminal interface; only a text-reply path handled "all" before. Now:
The argument hint reads [reconnect (<server>|all)|enable|disable [<server>|all]].
reconnect all reconnects every MCP server that needs it, except IDE servers, and reports "Reconnected N of M MCP server(s)".
If some stay disconnected, it suggests running /mcp. In a background session with no terminal attached, the hint says to attach first.
If nothing needs reconnecting, it says "No MCP servers need reconnecting".
Each failure is logged per server as "mcp reconnect all: … not reconnected".
Why
Claude Code's own notices already told users to reply "/mcp reconnect all". That suggested command now actually retries every dropped server in one step.

Since it was published
The entry above is what we published on the day. These lines were added later, as Anthropic's own pages caught up, and they sit beside the original rather than replacing it.
Confirmed sinceAnthropic's documentation has since written up /mcp reconnect all, on Connect Claude Code to tools via MCP.To retry every server that failed or needs authentication, run `/mcp reconnect all`. In the interactive terminal this requires Claude Code v2.1.284 or later, and earlier versions print `MCP server "all" not found` there.mcpsee the edit
