What
Claude Code rebuilds a list of files from git in one of its features. That check has changed in a few ways:
- Submodules, which are other git projects nested inside a repository, are skipped when their contents are not present.
- Items that are not ordinary files are checked against their recorded fingerprint instead of being treated as a missing
.gitattributesfile. - File-type entries are checked for a valid format, and ones that fail are reported as tampered.
Why
Repositories with submodules should no longer produce false "tampered" or error results from this check.
