When Claude Code connects through a gateway provider, the spend limit text in the usage and status display has more detail. A gateway provider is a service that sits between you and the model and tracks spending. The line now shows:
- the amount used against the limit, in currency
- the period the limit covers
- the percentage used
- when it resets
If that spending information cannot be fetched, the line falls back to the percentage and reset time, as it showed before.
Why
If you use a gateway, you see real money figures instead of just a percentage. This makes it easier to judge how much room is left.
