The instructions Claude reads for the Artifact tool's url parameter have been rewritten. They now say:
- Only claude.ai artifact links count, in the forms
claude.ai/artifact/{id}orclaude.ai/code/artifact/{uuid}. A chat, project or session link does not. - Publishing to an artifact that this conversation has neither read nor published is refused.
- If a refusal hands back the live version, that counts as the read, and Claude should merge its changes into that version instead of resending the same thing.
Why
This points to a rule that stops Claude from overwriting an artifact someone else has edited without seeing their changes first.
