What
A skill is a packaged set of instructions Claude Code can load. When a name with a prefix was used, Claude Code used to fall back to a synced skill with the same plain name. That step has been removed. Names are now matched in this order:
- Exact: the name exactly as given.
- Agent prefix: the name with the agent type's prefix.
- Ending: a skill whose name ends with the given name, not counting synced skills.
Why
Calling a synced skill by a prefixed name may no longer find it.
