What
Claude Code reads a new environment variable (a setting passed to a program when it starts), CLAUDE_CODE_REMOTE_TOOLS_PIN_STORED_LOGIN. When it is set to true, the serve helper checks where it is about to connect before it runs:
The sign-in addresses (BASE_API_URL, TOKEN_URL, CLAUDE_AI_ORIGIN, API_KEY_URL, ROLES_URL, MCP_PROXY_URL) must match this computer's stored claude.ai login.
If any of them does not match, the helper prints an error saying it stopped because the address does not resolve to this computer's stored claude.ai login on Anthropic's own service, and exits with code 78. Local development builds are allowed on local hosts. The variable is also removed before Claude Code starts child processes.
Why
It works as a safety pin: the helper will not run if its API address or sign-in addresses have been redirected somewhere else.
