IDE selection shows in the footer and can be dismissed with Backspace or Delete

What

When Claude Code is connected to an IDE (a code editor such as VS Code), text you select in the editor can be sent to Claude as context. The footer under the prompt now shows and manages that selection:

• A new footer status shows IDE with · connecting… or · disconnected when relevant, a cloud session link with its reconnect state, and a HIPAA badge.
• When the connected IDE has a selection, the footer adds a dimmed N lines count or the selected file's name, shortened to fit the width.
• The footer's selectable items gain ideSelection, next to tasks, memories, frame, bagel, bridge and workflows. Enter on a selected item goes through the footer:openSelected action.
• The Footer keybinding context now binds Backspace and Delete to footer:dismiss by default. The action existed before but had no default key. With the IDE selection item selected, it removes the selection from context. The IDE-selection chip in the prompt also responds to delete.
• The selection is not shown for selections that come from a diff, in remote workspaces, or while you are viewing an agent.

One finding observed that the selectable IDE-selection item sits behind a check that returns false in this build, so it may not appear yet.

Why

You can see which editor selection will be sent to Claude, and drop an unwanted one from the keyboard instead of editing it out of your prompt.
