What
Vim mode lets you edit your prompt with vim-style keys. Commands that work on whole lines now find the line from its position in the text instead of from where it appears on screen. This covers:
p and P for pasting whole lines
>> and << for indenting
o and O for opening a new line
dd for deleting a line
Other changes:
After dd or a whole-line paste, the cursor moves to the first character that is not a space.
J in visual mode joins lines in a new way.
. (repeat last change) now accepts a count, such as 3., which replaces the original count.
Indenting the last line with a count greater than 1 does nothing.
In NORMAL mode, the cursor stays within the text when an earlier or queued message is brought back into the input.
Why
When a long line wrapped onto several screen rows, these commands could act on the wrong line.
