What
Claude Code can set up GitHub Actions for a repository. GitHub Actions is GitHub's system for running automated jobs. The setup creates a branch, writes workflow files and stores an API key as a repository secret. A secret is a value GitHub keeps hidden from anyone reading the repository.
The setup now checks whether it has been cancelled at three points:
Before it creates the branch
Before it writes each workflow file
Before it sets the API key secret
If the setup has been cancelled, it stops at that point. Before this change, each step ran to completion once the setup had started.
The setup also keeps a running log of what it has done so far, such as which branch it created and which files it wrote to that branch.
Why
If you cancel the setup partway through, Claude Code no longer goes on to create branches or secrets in your repository after you asked it to stop. The progress log records which changes had already been made, so a stopped run can leave a clear account of them.
