What
Claude Code runs git, the version control tool, with a fixed set of environment variables (settings passed to a program when it starts). That set now also includes LC_ALL and LANGUAGE, both set to C. This makes git print its messages in English, in the same format regardless of your system's language settings.
Why
Claude Code reads git's output. On a computer set to a language other than English, git's messages could come back in that language and be misread. This is likely to fix that.
