What
The status line is the customisable bar at the bottom of Claude Code. It receives information as JSON, a structured text format. The thinking.enabled value in that JSON now reports true for models that always use thinking, even when your own thinking setting is off. For other models it follows your setting as before.
Why
A custom status line that displays whether thinking is on will now match what the model is actually doing, rather than only what your setting says.
