What
While Claude is working on a reply (a "turn"), you can type more messages, and they wait in a queue. The "send now" key pushes a queued message through straight away. Until now that meant interrupting the running turn.
Behind the gate tengu_velvet_panda (a server-controlled switch), the key now first tries deliverWithoutCancel(), which uses sendQueuedNow. That waits for a point in the running turn where queued messages can be delivered and hands them over without stopping the turn. This applies in prompt mode while a turn is active.
If that works, the key press is logged as input_send_now_key.
If it does not work, the old behaviour runs and cancels the turn, logged as fell_back_to_cancel.
With the gate off, the key interrupts the turn as before.
Why
Pressing send-now no longer has to throw away the work Claude is in the middle of. The only time the turn is still cancelled is when the message can't be delivered inside it.
