The code that draws Claude Code's interface in your terminal now checks an environment variable, CLAUDE_CODE_COMMIT_BETWEEN_KEYS. An environment variable is a named setting passed to a program from your shell. When it is not set, the check counts as off. The variable is listed next to other internal and debugging variables such as CLAUDE_CODE_TMPDIR and CLAUDE_JOB_DIR.
