MCP servers are add-on services that give Claude Code extra tools. An elicitation is a request from one of these servers for input from you. In URL mode, the request sends you to a web page. Claude Code now includes the elicitationId for these requests only when the connection is not using the "modern" protocol version.
Why
Connections on the "modern" protocol have a separate way to report that a request is finished. They no longer get the ID in the older way.
