When a file changes during a session, Claude Code tells the model and usually includes a short excerpt of the change. When that excerpt is empty, the note now says "The changes are not shown here; use ... if you need the current content." The earlier explanation about the snippet budget, the limit on how much excerpt text gets included, is gone.
Why
The model is now simply told to read the file itself if it needs the current content.
