What

Claude Code tries to detect what kind of project you are working on, such as an iOS or Android app, and reports it to SDK hosts in a dev_intent message.

  • An ios_app detection no longer needs Claude to have edited a .swift file when the evidence is strong: running xcodebuild, xcrun or swift for an iOS SDK, or simctl or devicectl; writing iOS source, such as a UIKit import, into .swift, .m, .mm or .h files; or reading or writing iOS build settings in the Xcode project. A quoted command, a here-document or a comment does not count. Weaker evidence still needs a .swift edit. The detector records this as conclusiveEvidence.
  • Reading an xcconfig file now counts as xcode_project.
  • The ios_app and android_app detector gains directoryChanged(): it starts the detector if it has not started yet, and otherwise checks again.
  • Cleanup of the global config file now also removes the old per-project devIntentsDetected key, and fixes a check of hasCompletedProjectOnboarding that tested the wrong variable.

Why

iOS projects are recognised in more cases, the project-type hint follows you when you move into another repository, and the global config file loses stale per-project entries.
