deep-research is a workflow that ships with Claude Code. It starts with a scoping step, where an agent plans the research. The shape of that step's answer (SCOPE_SCHEMA) now requires only angles, and the old question and summary fields have been removed. The scope agent now returns only a list of search angles.
The workflow is tied to the tengu_sorrel_avocet gate, and it is disabled when that gate reads true. In readings not taken under this release, the flag server returned off both for this site's account and for the anonymous baseline.
In practice, the planning step hands the research only the directions to search. It no longer restates the question or summarises the plan.
