The CLAUDE_CODE_DIR_SYNC_ENGINE environment variable no longer accepts "git" or "always-git". An environment variable is a named value set in your shell before starting Claude Code. It controls directory sync, which copies your project files to a cloud or remote session. The only words it now recognises turn sync off:

- false
- no
"git" and "always-git" now count as unrecognised and produce a warning. Leaving the variable unset keeps sync on.
Why
If you set this variable to "git" or "always-git", you will now see a warning. To turn sync off, use one of the off words. To keep it on, remove the variable.
