What
bashEditDiff uses a private scratch git directory. That directory is now deleted in these cases:
- when setting it up fails
- when tracking is dropped
- when Claude Code shuts down
If deleting it fails, a log entry is written that starts "bashEditDiff: private directory not removed:".
Why
Failed or abandoned runs no longer leave stray temporary git directories on your disk. When one cannot be removed, the log shows it.
