It has been in the build since v2.1.138, including the newest one read.
When true and Claude Code was installed with Homebrew or WinGet, the package manager updater runs the upgrade itself (brew upgrade --cask or winget upgrade --id Anthropic.ClaudeCode, 5 minute timeout) when a newer version is available. Unset or false, it does not run the upgrade.
Not Anthropic's. Written by Claude Opus 5.5 from reading the v2.1.286 bundle, and it can be wrong.
