A Claude Code environment variable, read out of the shipped bundle.
It has been in the build since v2.1.196, including the newest one read.
Set to 1 to stop a background session's running background shell commands, dynamic workflows, and, as of v2.1.198, background subagents when the supervisor stops, restarts, or updates that session's process, instead of handing them to the session's next process. Affects only that handoff: backgrounding a session with ← or /background still carries in-flight work over, and CLAUDE_DISABLE_ADOPT turns off both. Requires Claude Code v2.1.196 or later
Artifact comment watchers now survive backgrounding and exit, and tell you when one couldn't be resumed.
