DisclaimerUnofficial, and not affiliated with Anthropic. Nearly all of this is read straight out of what ships: npm bundles, captured prompts, published docs. Anthropic's own notes go in verbatim, marked as theirs. The rest is my reading, and every entry carries the strings behind it. If one looks wrong, vote it down and say why.

Redundant File Re-Read Prevention [Gradual Rollout]

Feature flag
tengu_noreread_q7m_velvet Off in both readings

The flag server returned off for the account this site reads and for the anonymous baseline. A reading of off cannot rule out a rollout these two readings sit outside of.

This account: off · anonymous baseline: off · compiled default in v2.1.91: no gate table built for this version

These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.

What

When Claude re-reads a file that hasn't changed since its last Read, the tool result returns a warning instead of the file content, saving tokens.

Status

Feature-flagged via tengu_noreread_q7m_velvet (default: false)

Details
  • Returns: "Wasted call — file unchanged since your last Read. Refer to that earlier tool_result instead."
  • Edit/Write results now append: "(file state is current in your context — no need to Read it back)"
  • Tool descriptions add: "Do NOT re-read a file you just edited to verify"
Evidence

Re-read prevention (gated by tengu_noreread_q7m_velvet, search for "Wasted call")

Strings lifted out of the shipped bundle, so the claim above can be checked against them.
